| These are large black cultured freshwater pearls, quite unique, round to near round, beautifully matched and with excellent luster, visible in the photos. The strand is double-knotted by hand, 18 in. in length, including clasp. The pearls are 7-8.5mm in diameter, graduated very slightly clasp to center. The clasp is 14k gold (stamped), a delicate, elegant gold filigree ovoid style with safety catch. The strand is attached to the clasp with a "French twist" - a coiled 14k wire which is stylish and improves on wear and tear. These black pearls are color-enhanced by a radiation process. (All black/black freshwater pearls are color enhanced ... As opposed to Tahitian black sea pearls, for example.) These pearls were hand picked by the seller in China. We had an unusual opportunity to buy a large number of these strands at a favorable price. When we saw the quality we snapped up the lot. A comparative retail sales price would be $400 or higher.
